St. Charles Pain & Wellness Center was founded in 2010 by Dr. Jacob Hertz and his wife with a single purpose: to bring compassionate, results-driven chiropractic care to the St. Charles community.

What started as a dream to help people live without pain has grown into a practice that has cared for tens of thousands of patients — from newborns just days old to seniors in their 80s. We've been privileged to walk alongside our patients through recovery, maintenance, and total wellness.

Dr. Jacob Hertz

Dr. Hertz earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic, graduating Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2007. He began his career in Peoria, IL in a busy family practice before opening St. Charles Pain and Wellness Center in 2010 with his wife.

Over the years, Dr. Hertz has cared for tens of thousands of patients — from newborns just days old to seniors in their 80s. He uses a variety of gentle, safe chiropractic techniques tailored to each patient, with the goal of delivering fast, effective, and lasting results.

Deeply rooted in St. Charles, Dr. Hertz volunteers at his church, supports River Valley Christian School, and actively participates in local community events. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children.

Melissa Ishman

Melissa is the warm and welcoming face of St. Charles Pain & Wellness Center. As our Office Manager and Chiropractic Assistant, she ensures every patient feels comfortable and cared for from the moment they walk through the door.

With over 13 years dedicated to the chiropractic field — serving patients in both Texas and Illinois — Melissa brings a depth of experience and a genuine passion for helping people. She was raised in Rockford, IL, lived in Fort Worth, TX for 12 years, and now calls St. Charles home.

Outside the office, Melissa is a devoted wife and mother who loves volunteering at her daughter's school and staying active in the community.
