to your unique needs. Healing starts here in St. Charles, IL.

Spinal Decompression

Our clinic is equipped with specialized spinal decompression technology to treat herniated discs, sciatica, and chronic low back pain. This gentle, non-surgical therapy relieves pressure on spinal discs to promote healing.

Many patients find lasting relief without surgery — making spinal decompression one of the most effective options for disc-related pain that hasn't responded to other treatments.

  • Treats herniated discs, bulging discs & sciatica

  • Gentle negative pressure promotes natural disc rehydration

  • Reduces nerve compression and radiating leg or arm pain

  • Non-surgical, drug-free alternative to back surgery

  • Most insurance plans accepted

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a proven way to improve blood pressure, immune system and nervous system function, and general health. Dr. Jacob Hertz uses multiple techniques to find the right approach for each patient.

We offer three primary adjustment techniques — Diversified (manual), Activator (instrument-assisted), and Thompson Drop Table — so if one approach doesn't resolve the problem, we have other tools available.

  • Diversified technique — high velocity, low amplitude manual adjustment

  • Activator technique — gentle spring-loaded instrument, great for kids & elderly

  • Thompson Drop Table — low-force, no manual twisting required

  • Treats back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica & more

  • Auto & work injury specialists

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a powerful complement to chiropractic care — relaxing the muscles surrounding the spine so adjustments are more effective and longer-lasting.

Regular massage reduces pain, decreases anxiety, supports pregnancy health, eases workplace strain, and accelerates recovery from injury.

  • Relieves muscle tension and chronic pain

  • Improves circulation and range of motion

  • Reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue

  • Supports prenatal health and pregnancy comfort

  • Pairs with chiropractic for faster, longer-lasting results

Wellness & Nutrition

Beyond the adjustment, we offer a full suite of in-office wellness therapies to support your recovery, reduce pain, and promote lasting health from the inside out.

We also partner with Standard Process for whole-food nutritional supplements — because optimal healing starts with the right building blocks.

  • Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) — relieves spasms & improves circulation

  • Intersegmental Traction — improves spinal blood flow & mobility

  • Whole Body Vibration — boosts circulation, balance & bone density

  • Spider-Tech Kinesiology Taping — supports muscles & reduces pain

  • Standard Process whole-food nutritional supplements

  • Wobble Chair and Physical Therapy (PT) (i.e. exercise balls, thera band exercises) as therapies

Frequently Asked Questions

Spinal Decompression

Is spinal decompression the same as intersegmental traction?

Spinal decompression and intersegmental traction are two different therapies. Non surgical spinal decompression uses gentle negative pressure to relieve pressure on spinal discs, promote natural disc rehydration, and reduce nerve compression that causes radiating leg or arm pain. Intersegmental traction uses specialized rollers underneath a therapy table to mobilize the spine and improve circulation. Both are offered at our St. Charles office, and your care plan determines which one fits your condition.

What conditions does spinal decompression treat?

Spinal decompression treats herniated discs, bulging discs, sciatica, and chronic low back pain. Our clinic is equipped with specialized decompression technology, and many patients find lasting relief without surgery. It is one of the most effective options for disc related pain that has not responded to other treatments. Most insurance plans are accepted.

Chiropractic Care

What does a chiropractic adjustment do?

A chiropractic adjustment safely applies a controlled, precise force to a spinal joint that is not moving properly. This targeted movement restores proper alignment, reduces pressure on surrounding nerves, and decreases localized inflammation. By restoring healthy biomechanics to your spine, adjustments stimulate your nervous system, relieve muscle tension, and alleviate pain. This process allows your body to heal naturally and function at its best without the use of drugs or surgery.

What adjustment techniques do you use?

We offer three primary adjustment techniques so that if one approach does not resolve the problem, we have other tools available. Diversified is a high velocity, low amplitude manual adjustment. Activator uses a gentle spring loaded instrument and works well for children and elderly patients. Thompson Drop Table is a low force option that requires no manual twisting. Dr. Hertz selects the right approach for each patient.

Massage Therapy

Do you offer massage therapy?

Yes, we offer massage therapy on a limited basis, exclusively on Friday mornings. We offer customizable session lengths of 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes to fit your specific wellness goals. Because these Friday morning time slots are highly sought after and fill up quickly, scheduling is handled case by case to best complement your chiropractic treatment plan. Speak with our front desk team or your chiropractor as early as possible so we can check current Friday availability and secure your spot.

Wellness and Nutrition

What does electrical stimulation do for me, or how does it help?

Electrical stimulation uses mild, painless electrical currents to reduce muscle spasms, alleviate pain, and accelerate your recovery. We place small pads on the target area, sending gentle signals that block pain pathways to your brain and stimulate the release of your body's natural painkillers, called endorphins. This therapy also increases blood circulation to the damaged tissues, which pumps in fresh oxygen and nutrients to speed up healing. It is a relaxing therapy commonly used alongside your adjustments to calm tight muscles and soothe localized inflammation.

What does electric muscle stimulation do for me, or how does it help?

Electrical muscle stimulation specifically targets your muscles to reduce spasms, prevent atrophy, and rebuild muscle strength. While standard pain relief stimulation focuses on numbing irritated nerves, EMS sends a slightly stronger signal that causes your muscles to rhythmically contract and relax. This involuntary contraction forces tight, spasming muscle fibers to finally release. The pulsing movement also boosts blood flow to the area, flushing out painful lactic acid buildup and rushing in the fresh oxygen needed to repair damaged muscle tissue.

What does intersegmental traction do for me, or how does it help?

Intersegmental traction gently elongates and mobilizes your spine by utilizing specialized rollers underneath a therapy table. This motion separates the individual vertebrae to increase blood flow and vital nutrient circulation to the spinal discs. Since spinal discs lack a direct blood supply, they rely entirely on this type of movement to pump in oxygen and flush out metabolic waste. This relaxing therapy stretches tight muscles, reduces joint fixation, and restores a healthy range of motion, making it an excellent preparation or follow up for your chiropractic adjustment.

Insurance and Cost

What if my insurance doesn't cover my care, and what are my options?

If your insurance plan doesn't cover our services, has high deductibles, or caps the number of visits you can receive, we offer an affordable alternative through the ChiroHealthUSA discount program.

Since legal regulations generally require us to charge insurance companies and cash paying patients the exact same standard rates, ChiroHealthUSA serves as a contracted network that allows us to legally extend capped, discounted fees to our patients.

Affordable Membership: A single $49 annual membership covers you and your immediate legal dependents for a full 12 months.

Immediate Discounts: You gain access to our capped network rates right away, typically saving enough to cover the enrollment fee on your very first visits.

No Exclusions: There are no health restrictions, and the program can be used to supplement major medical plans for any non covered or exhausted services.

Our front desk team can help you sign up right in our office so you can begin using your benefits immediately. Please note that ChiroHealthUSA is a discount plan, not health insurance, and cannot be used to reduce your regular insurance copays or deductibles.

How much is it going to cost?

Because healthcare costs are highly individualized, the exact total depends entirely on your insurance plan or whether you are self paying. We prioritize absolute financial transparency and divide our costs into two distinct paths:

If Using Insurance: Your out of pocket cost is dictated by your carrier's specific network contract. This will generally consist of a fixed copay, typically $20 to $50 per visit, meeting your yearly deductible, or paying a coinsurance percentage after your deductible is met. We will calculate this exact amount for you as soon as we run a routine benefits check.

If Self-Paying or Under-Insured: For patients with no chiropractic coverage, high deductibles, or exhausted benefit limits, we utilize the ChiroHealthUSA discount network. For a $49 annual family membership, your visits are legally capped at a highly discounted, predictable flat rate, typically around $40 to $75 depending on the services rendered during that session.

We promise there will never be any hidden costs or surprise bills. Our front desk team will sit down with you to review your complete cost breakdown before any treatment begins.
